CAMEROON: SECRETARY-GENERAL COMMENDS PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF ELECTION

Voters went to the polls in Cameroon on Sunday to select a president, with incumbent Paul Biya – who has been in power since 1982 – facing 22 other candidates.
In a <"http://www.un.org/apps/sg/sgstats.asp?nid=5600">statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Ban appealed to all “political actors to use established legal channels to resolve electoral disputes.”
He also called on Cameroonian authorities “to ensure that all claims related to the process are handled in an expeditious and transparent matter.”
